ARIC Troubleshooting

ARIC Troubleshooting Guide

READ, WATCH, AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS FOR ARIC BEFORE PROCEEDING.
CAUTION: Ensure the firearm is CLEAR/UNLOADED, consult firearms manual for these procedures. Parts under tension, use Eye Protection during handling.

Failure to Chamber/Failure to Feed:
  • Confirm the standard Buffer & Recoil Spring has been removed from the Butter Tube.
  • Ensure factory brass cased ammunition is being used.
  • Confirm ARIC is installed correctly by reviewing Installation Videos and Instructions. (See INSTALLATION VIDEO)
  • Specificity check Tail Cup Fitment (See TAIL CUP FITMENT VIDEO and INSTALLATION MANUAL; Tail Cup Fitment)
Failure to have a free moving Tail Cup during Fitment in the flange may result in binding, robbing energy for proper chambering, cycling and function.
The ARIC and Firearm should be liberally lubricated, especially for first use.

Law Tactical recommends high-quality liquid lubricants designed for Suppressed, Semi or Full Auto Firearms.

NOTE:
Not all lubricants and cleaning products are compatible. Bio-based products may not react well with petroleum-based products. Before changing between products, thoroughly clean and degrease your firearm.
  • Clean and Lubricate the Upper Receiver, ensuring the Chamber is scrubbed with a Chamber Brush. The Use of a Chamber Brush is imperative to proper function of AR type firearms and should be done before the installation of any new bolt, at regular maintenance intervals and especially with suppressed firearms as suppressed shooting increases fouling.
  • If the issue continues contact Law Tactical via email at [email protected].

Failure to Fire:
  • Confirm the standard Buffer & Recoil Spring has been removed from the Butter Tube.
  • Ensure Firearm is loaded with a round in the chambered, and that the safety selector is set to the appropriate firing setting when attempting to fire. (See Firearms Manual for Procedures)
  • If failure to fire continues, eject the chambered round and observe if there is firing pin impact on the primer. AR type firearms will have a minor imprint on the primer during chambering due to the floating nature of the firing pin. (See Firearms Manual for Procedures)
  • If there is no impact on the primer, ensure the Firing Pin and Firing Pin Retaining Pin are
  • If there is still no impact on the primer, confirm the Bolt is locking into the Chamber and the Bolt Carrier is in battery. If the Bolt Carrier is not in battery, the firing pin cannot reach the primer. See and follow “Failure to Chamber/Failure to Feed” above.
  • Confirm the ARIC is properly cleaned and lubricated (See LUBRICATION VIDEO)
  • If the issue continues contact Law Tactical via email at [email protected].

Failure to Cycle:
  • If the issue occurs only when firing folded, ensure firm grip/control on the firearm. As with standard pistols, a weak grip/control of the firearm can induce malfunctions.
  • Confirm the standard Buffer & Recoil Spring has been removed from the Butter Tube.
  • Ensure that the proper ARIC version is being used (See ARIC SELECTION GUIDE)
  • Confirm the ARIC is properly cleaned and lubricated. (See LUBRICATION VIDEO)
  • If the firearms has an Adjustable Gas Block, open or close the block to increase or decrease the speed of the carrier as needed. (See the Firearms or the Adjustable Gas Block Manual for procedures)
  • If shooting suppressed, use the ARIC “M” Carrier. Use of a Suppressor on the ARIC “C” Carrier can result in excessive carrier speed, that can cause failure to extract, stovepipe and other cycle malfunctions.
  • If unsuppressed , Use the ARIC “C” Carrier. Due to decreased carrier speed, the ARIC “M”
Carrier may not reliably cycle .223 Remington unsuppressed, and may result in short stroking, failure to lock back on an empty magazine or other cycle issues.
  • If the proper ARIC is selected, Read and Follow “Failure to Chamber/Failure to Feed” above.

Failure to Lock Back on Empty Magazine:
  • If the issue occurs only when firing folded, ensure firm grip/control on the firearm. As with standard pistols, a weak grip/control of the firearm can induce malfunctions.
  • Confirm the standard Buffer & Recoil Spring has been removed from the Butter Tube.
  • Confirm the Firearm manually locks back on an empty Magazine, using the Charging Handle, as would be done as part of a manual function check. (See the Firearms manual for procedures)
  • If the bolt carrier does not lock back, check another Magazine and inspect the Magazine, Bolt Catch and Bolt Lugs for proper function and any signs of damage. If any issues are found, correct/replace the damaged or warn-out components.
  • ARIC locks back manually, but not when fired, it may indicate slow Carrier speed.See “Failure to Chamber/Failure to Feed”. Confirm the ARIC is properly cleaned and lubricated (See LUBRICATION VIDEO)
  • Failure to lock back may also indicate improper Carrier speed caused by under/over gassing. Confirm the proper carrier is being used. (See ARIC SELECTION GUIDE)
  • If the firearms has an Adjustable Gas Block, open or close the block to increase or decrease the speed of the carrier as needed. (See the Firearms or the Adjustable Gas Blocks Manual for procedures).
  • If the issue continues contact Law Tactical via email at [email protected].

Component Life, Wear and Maintenance related Malfunctions
  • As with all Firearms components, including recoil springs, inspected and replace at required intervals.
  • ARIC Recoil Springs and Bumpers are user replaceable and designed to meet or exceed the life cycle of the standard recoil system in the host firearm. (See DISASSEMBLY VIDEO)
  • The ARIC and Firearm should be liberally lubricated to reduce malfunctions, decrease wear and preserve component life (See LUBRICATION VIDEO)
  • Some systems may see internal cosmetic wear from the ARIC. This has not affected the function or life of the firearm or ARIC in long-term endurance testing.
  • Bumper Wear; small indents on the Bumpers are acceptable, however, damage including tears and/or cracks are not and should be replaced. Bumpers and Springs should be replaced together as required. Do NOT shoot without bumpers. (See DISASSEMBLY VIDEO)
